Post Coronavirus Supply Chains Recovery: The Journey Towards the New Normal
Professor Richard Wilding, OBE has published a new white paper on the impact of the pandemic on supply chains and logistics. The various implications for businesses, supply chains, and supply chain leaders can be subsumed under four categories: Resilience issues, Demand-related issues, Transportation & Warehousing-related issues and Workplace-related issues. The paper published by DHL, is available for download at: http://www.dhl.com/covid-paper-2020
We are pleased to see in the Resilience Action Check List it advocates “Collaborate, Collaborate, Collaborate: ensure relationships are managed effectively across the supply chain. Managing relationships requires processes, information systems and people resource.”
If this policy is not already in place you could be in for a rough ride because implementing it at short notice is difficult. Putting in place a new operating model takes time as does building trust and commitment. However this is not impossible given senior determination. This will not only support transition to the new normal but will also lay the foundation for a more profitable and resilient future.
